Queue up for land lots in College Grove. More than 200 acres of rural land in the College Grove area of Williamson County, Tennessee real estate sold to Franklin developer and builder Tim Hill. The southern Nashville property will contribute to the changing development landscape south of Franklin TN real estate.
The Middle Tennessee real estate came from the estate of Susan West, a farmer and philanthropist. Divided into three parcels, 99 acres are located near 6473 Drumright Road and 112 acres are located on Arno-College Grove Road. Over $2 million in proceeds from the sales will benefit charities such as the Elephant Sanctuary of Hohenwald, the African Wildlife Foundation of Washington D.C., and the Athens Area Humane Society of Athens, Georgia. The funds will continue West’s lifetime care for animals.
Hill, owner of HTMA Builders owns real estate in several states and, smitten with the beauty of the area, wanted to invest closer to home. The land on Arno-College Grove Road will become smaller lots of about five acres. The Drumright Road 99 acres is partially in the flood plain and may be suitable for larger parcels of 15 to 20 acres that extend along the flood plain, which is a scenic open space.
Susan West grew up in Athens, Georgia, the only child of Professor Robert Hunter West of the University of Georgia and Conn Harris West. According to her cousin Olin West, Ms. West believed in maintaining, investing and growing inherited wealth and spending earned wealth. She attended Duke University and received her graduate degree in animal husbandry from the University of Tennessee before becoming a farmer.
Another 60 acres from the estate is the largest undeveloped site remaining from the historic Battle of Nashville and is now the property of the Tennessee Land Trust.
