To get a sense of the Nashville neighborhood best suited for your family, before heading out to suburbia, take a tour of these well-known gems in Nashville's real estate: East Nashville, Hillsboro Village, 12South, Germantown, The District, 8th Avenue South, Elliston Place, Green Hills, The Gulch, and the Midtown area.
A renaissance is blooming in East Nashville real estate where several historic neighborhoods dating back to the 1850's present an eclectic mixture of architecture. Though the 1916 fire ravaged over 600 structures, during today’s revitalization, you will see construction of new Nashville homes, zero-lot-line Nashville townhomes, and Nashville condominiums for those who desire urban living with a suburban neighborhood feeling.
The quaint Nashville neighborhood of Hillsboro Village is home to a number of locally owned shops and boutiques, eateries and the historic Belcourt Theatre. (Near Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities)
The delightful 12South Neighborhood features substantial tree-lined sidewalks, cozy lighting, and an eclectic array of dining and retail establishments. A funky mixture of 1920s-vintage picture windowed commercial buildings, parts of 1960s strip malls, and bungalows with front yards are close to the wonderful Sevier Park. (12th Avenue South between Wedgewood Ave. and Gale Lane)
A slate of new residential developments, restaurants and businesses have helped make Germantown a desirable location for urban pioneers to live, work, eat and play. Currently being restored to its original mid-19th century grandeur, Germantown is so named because German immigrants settled here. The Farmers’ Market is steps away.
So uniquely capturing the city’s Victorian charm, neon lights and Music City, The District specializes in entertainment and in showcasing the history of the city. From hole-in-the-walls to fine dining, nightclubs to dinner theater, the best is just an evening stroll away. (Second Avenue, Lower Broadway, and Printer’s Alley)
Nashville's famous comedy venue, Zanies is located midst numerous antique and retro-furniture shops in the 8th Avenue South district. (South of downtown)
Elliston Place has a variety of options for nighttime entertainment including great music almost any night of the week. Recently celebrating its 30th year, the legendary Exit/In hosts many hit-makers and future stars. (Across West End Avenue from Vanderbilt west of downtown)
Some of the city’s most desirable homes are situated around Green Hills. Green Hills is home to The Bluebird Café, the place for songwriters to be heard in Nashville, and The Mall at Green Hills, a popular shopping destination.
The Gulch, a new thriving business community, offers loft offices, upscale office space, and spacious studios, as well as popular restaurants and bars. Residential options include loft apartments, studios, and affordable condominiums. (On edge of Central Business District, within minutes of West End Avenue, Music Row and Hillsboro Village)
And finally, check out the midtown area around South Street Cafe, Bound'ry, and the Vanderbilt Law School. Doesn’t go by a name but we’ll call it Midtown--that's just where it is!
