Hillsboro Village Tennessee real estate is stylishly prestigious and perfectly located. Homes in Nashville’s Hillsboro Village are next to both Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities in a pedestrian friendly area with old-fashioned, neighborhood-style merchants, boutique shops, and eateries.
Hillsboro Village neighborhoods are within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, Music Row, and downtown Nashville and are near interstate highways. With a mix of renovated all-brick apartments, older fixer-upper Nashville TN homes, brand new homes, and newer luxury high-rise condominiums in Nashville, all enjoy a beautifully landscaped, intimate living environment. This portion of Nashville real estate has avoided the urban renewal and strip-malls of other communities in Middle Tennessee real estate.
Once at the end of the trolley line from downtown, today residents, campus employees, and tourists flock to 21st Avenue South for vibrant entertainment, dining, and shopping in an area reminiscent of the 1930s and 1940s. Actually, most of the buildings in the Village are from 1910 to the early 1920s. The business district consists of small shops, many with the historic floor plans and fronts painted different colors by their present-day owners. There is nothing cookie cutter about the community. It is a tribute to individuality and recently received a federal grant for streetscape improvements to the both the eclectic mix of retail shops and the residential areas.
The Village is also home to the historic Belcourt Theatre, a leading non-profit venue for film, music, and theater events, and a popular attraction for residents and visitors alike. In the late 1990s, the city nearly lost this cultural and architectural treasure—the last standing neighborhood theater in the entire metro area. A group of concerned citizens called Belcourt YES reopened the theater in the summer of 1999 turning it into a multiuse facility. Belcourt Theatre now presents family classic films at noon on weekends and plays by the Olde Worlde Theatre Company and People's Branch Theatre throughout the year.
Another landmark, notorious for long lines at peak hours, is the family owned Pancake Pantry featuring fresh Tennessee flour, butter, buttermilk, and eggs along with hot homemade syrup and soups. It is located just down the street from Fido, a popular eatery with a dog theme. From its fine cutlery to its used bookstores and French pastries, from loft living to its down-home feel, this place is extraordinary.
